It was originally something that was given away in the 1960s with Birds Custard. I sold it to a local couple and the man who came to pick it up told me that it is going to be a Christmas present for his mother in law. Apparently she had had an original one since the 1960s and had used it every Christmas Day to serve custard. Unfortunately earlier this year it had got so badly damaged she couldn't use it anymore. So this lovely couple have decided to surprise her this Christmas! A lovely story that made my day!
The other good thing is that it meant I could buy these instead!
They are actually salt and pepper pots! They were made in Japan and I think they date from the 1950s. I know what ceramic I prefer!I also just wanted to say thanks for the comments. I do read every single one and love to hear from people. It's always nice to meet new friends in the blogging world!
